When I visit a new city I love to take a tour so I have an overview of attractions (and then I can go back in my own time and check out the best places in depth). On arriving in Naples, this is exactly what I did. It was fun to take a step back in time and board the old-fashioned blue and orange sightseeing trolley, which clangs its bell as it makes its way through the busy streets. Its plastic windows can be rolled up/down depending on the weather. The guided tour was fully narrated with historical and fun facts about Naples and it's History.
You can get off the trolley tour at any of their 25 designated stops to explore your favorite spots and just pick up the city tour again whenever you are ready to move on. Stops include Tin City, Collier County Museum, Coastland Mall, Ritz Carlton, Philharmonic and the Naples Museum of Art, Waterside Shops, Village on Venetian Bay, Third Street South, Fifth Avenue and the City Dock. The first tour bus starts at 8:30 at the "Experience Naples Visitors Info Center" at the corner of 10th Street and 6th Avenue South; and the last stop is around 5:15pm
Naples Trolley Tours, which celebrates it's 21sth Anniversary in 2009, offers a selection of sightseeing tours which including Segway Tours of Naples (I confess I have not tried the Segway yet, but I often see people gliding through the streets and parks with their tour guide and it does look fun), Everglades Tours (a very enjoyable boat trip where I spotted spot dolphins, alligators, birds and an abundance of wildlife) and Sanibel Island Tours (A trip which included Ding Darling Wildlife refuge, Historic Sanibel Lighthouse, and an opportunity to add some beautiful shells to my collection).
Prices for a fully Narrated 2 hour tour is $25 for Adults, and $12.50 for children (4-12). Your ticket is valid for one day, a two-day pass is $36. The segway tours are $74, and also last 2 hours.
